Stephen Gleeson has admitted that he just "closed his eyes" when he headed his first senior goal against Darlington on Saturday.

The on-loan Wolves midfielder got on the end of Adam Proudlock's superb cross to complete the scoring in the 62nd minute at Edgeley Park.

"I just closed my eyes and hoped for the best," Stephen told

"I could have had a few at the back post to be honest.

"But I'm just glad one of them has gone in, I'm delighted to get my first goal."

Gleeson also had a few words of praise for Adam Proudlock, who gave Stephen the chance to score his first goal with a fantastic cross.

"Adam's different class, he really is," Stephen added.

"His career has gone downhill a bit but he's definitely on the way back up now."
